A hardy, handsome bush or small tree, which bears clusters of fiery red and yellow flowers with conspicuously long stamens; so named as the wearing of these colors was reserved for the Hawaiian royalty, the "Ali'i." It is also the sacred flower of Siva, the Hindu God.
