A small native Hawaiian tree/bush that grows to 15 feet that had many uses
for the ancient Hawaiians. The fibrous inner layer of its light brown bark was
made into tapa (Hawaiian paper). Mamaki leaves are used in medicinal tea as a
tonic and it is reported that its dried flowers have been used for treating
cataracts. Mamaki flowers are tiny and white, growing in clusters that turn
into fleshy looking mulberries.
